Sociology of the Paradigm of Power; A Transition from The Sociology of The State and Non-Organic Public Policy

Abstract
The state possesses an organic essence. Nevertheless, organic theories of state have not been particularly successful in resolving the complex and longstanding dichotomies of "structuralism and agent-centrism", "objectivism and subjectivism", "holism and atomism", "universalism and particularism", and "interpretivism and explanatory approaches". The emergence of systems theory can be understood as a response to this fundamental deficiency. However, systems theory itself is subject to profound limitations and cannot, therefor, be regarded as a complete and definitive theory. It is precisely at this juncture that the present article takes its point of departure. The author initially replaces the two conventional concepts of "State" and "Political System" with the concept of "Paradigm of Power", and subsequently seeks to delineate the nature, principles, and fundamental elements of a "Sociology of the Paradigm of Power". Within this framework, the author conceives of every paradigm of power as a "Living Social Superorganism" endowed with a "Simultaneous Dual Being", comprising a "First Mode of Being, or General Biological Being", and a "Second Mode of Being, or Particular Social Being". In this context, the particular social being of each paradigm of power is constituted through three interconnected chains. The author designates these as the "Supra-constitutive Chain", "Constitutive Chain", and "Sub-constitutive Chain", and considers each chain to comprise three elements, yielding a total of nine: "the specific history of emergence; the logic of paradigmatic selection; the inherent social transcendentalism; the dominant forces of political economy; the particular games of distinction and contradiction; the paradigmatic mode of production; the state of internal and external exchange; the specific natural crises; and the developmental or anti-developmental capacity of each paradigm of power". In the author’s view, these chains and their elements form a single, coherent, and indivisible whole. Accordingly, within the framework of a "Sociology of the Paradigm of Power," the author elucidates the process through which these three chains and their nine constituent elements become organically interconnected, and advances this framework as an alternative to the sociology of the state and to mechanistic theories of public policy.
